FOUNDER STORY:

During the early days of COVID-19, the digital divide became unmistakably clear. Our founder, then based in New York City—an early epicenter of the pandemic—witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by her neighbors in adapting to a remote-first world. She saw children lining up outside Starbucks to access free Wi-Fi, sharing laptops just to complete their homework.

But her awareness of digital inequity began long before the pandemic. As a middle school student, she vividly remembers feeling excluded from conversations about popular TV shows available only on paid cable channels—a subtle but powerful social divider.

Later, as streaming services gained traction, she became the friend whose home doubled as a community hub, simply because others couldn't afford the growing number of streaming subscriptions while living in such a high cost of living city.

Ironically, at the same time, she was participating in strategy meetings at these very media companies, helping to shape pricing models and experimentations designed to increase company profit and consumer spending.

When the AI boom began, she quickly recognized the risk: the digital divide was not just persisting—it was accelerating. Unlike previous technological shifts, this one demanded both rapid skill development and a mindset shift, especially among communities already burdened by distrust and systemic disadvantage.

She understood that if AI literacy was limited to the privileged few, we risked creating a future built only for the children of the already privileged. Bridging this gap is not optional—it is a leadership imperative. Ensuring digital equity and widespread AI fluency must be central to our collective progress. We are proud to be a minority women-founded organization that leverages the power of artificial intelligence to pioneer progress.
